Earlier this year, the recently formed Newquay Towan Blystra Lions Club set a challenge to the pupils of St. Newlyn East School - To design the club a new bannerette, which is to be shared with Lions Clubs across the UK and overseas. The new club was after a really eyecatching bannerette, which captured their pride in the town and surrounding areas of Newquay. Over 50 entries were submitted, and all judged by the members of the Lions Club at a meeting earlier this year. It was concluded that two designs, which were very similar really stood out. They were from Harvey Maguire and Lewis Greenwood, whos designs featured an outline of the coast around Newquay, and the iconic Huers Hut on the Headland. The boys and the school were all presented with their own finished bannerettes during an assembly, along with book vouchers for both the winners and the School. Heather Stanley, President of Newquay Towan Blystra Lions said “The standard of entries received was excellent and far exceeded our expectations. “This bannerette will be presented to Lions Clubs from across the UK and overseas, and both Harvey and Lewis should be very proud of their success.”Newquay Towan Blystra Lions unveil new bannerettes
